Our next meeting will take place on May 16th, 2023 and will be available for viewing in person and on Zoom.
The Washington Woodworkers Guild’s very own Jim Hennessey will speak to us about how he approaches furniture repair and restoration as the owner/operator of the Weatherby’s Guild of Central Virginia. He will demonstrate how and why he uses fillers, adhesives, and colors to make the necessary repairs. He will emphasize how all of us need to pass on these and other traditional techniques to our younger generations.
Jim Hennessey – Bio
Jim and his close-knit team repair, refinish and restore furniture. He opened the Weathersby Guild – Central Virginia franchise in 2017. He and his team put clients and quality above themselves. Jim has been working with his hands since a very young age. He started with wood, moved onto cars (paint/body, engine & electrical), fixed F-16’s in the Air Force for 20 years, then wrote software and managed technology in the private sector and government. Except for the F-16’s, he still does most of those things — and home improvement projects! Weathersby Guild is what he considers his 3rd life – and best so far!
He and his team are about doing things right — and doing what is right. They live by the Air Force Core Values — Integrity, Service, Excellence. He is currently passively seeking a 2nd apprentice or journeyman to continue the traditions to someone with the passion who wants to build the skills.
