At our September 21, 2021 Guild meeting, woodworking teacher David Hickson will provide an overview of different kinds of specialty planes, which ones may make good “next purchases” for a woodworker, and a few tips about their use. Plane types covered include: block planes, router planes, plow planes, rabbet planes, shoulder planes, combination planes. 

Bio

David Hickson has been an amateur furniture maker for over 20 years. Trained in science, David has worked as a teacher and school administrator for 37 years. He currently teaches woodworking, robotics, and design/fabrication to high school students at the Sandy Spring Friends School in Maryland. David is a member and former officer of the Howard County Woodworkers Guild and a member of the Society of American Period Furniture Makers, the Early American Industries Association, and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. 

Note: all meetings are currently held online (using Zoom) due to COVID.  Starting with the September 2021 meeting, we plan to hold meetings in person at our new location in Falls Church, Virginia. You may attend in person or by zoom.
